Simple Steps for Project management

When a manager is given the responsibility for an important project, the first step is to build an effective Project Plan.  Organize all the steps, people, resources and timetables into a cohesive Plan. Next up it the important management responsibility of effectively delegating each action step to execute the Plan.  finally, as the execution of the Project Plan unfolds, the manager needs to Track progress.

Of these three key steps, “tracking progress” is the most under-rated and often over-looked.  Much time and effort go into building the Project Plan, work assignments are given in support of the plan.  Everything should go ahead now…right? Wrong!  A core management principle is that if you “can’t track it you can’t mange it.”  Make sure that you have a tracking plan with check points, milestones and periodic progress reviews.  This will keep everyone focused and on track for success.
