Managers need to fix the weakest employee on the team

When your team or business Unit have a history of project execution issues, and you have determined that a given employee is the weak link having a negative impact…Fix It ASAP!

The tendency of many managers is to over-look it, hope for improvement, think the person will change or refuse to face the situation quickly enough.  These tendencies are performance killers.  A key responsibility of all managers is to “get the wrong people off the Bus and the right people on the Bus.”  If a manager fails to take decisive action the entire team suffers.

If you truly believe the weak link needs training or coaching then get it done now!  Almost any other issue requires making a change.  People can definitely learn (I really believe this).  They can gain needed skills and improve.  Beyond that…people really don’t change much. Deal with the issue and make a change if needed because it really is one of a manager’s primary duties.
