Coach Employees on Assignment Feedback

We talk a lot about the skills, techniques and responsibilities of the manager when delegating work assignments.  It is true that the manager is at the center of making effective delegation work.  It is also true that the employee on the receiving end of delegation need to do their part as well.  To help the employee be more effective, the manager needs to regularly “coach” their employees on How to Confirm Delegation.

this is primarily a matter of empowering them to ask questions, express ideas, challenge assumptions and to be able to describe back the assignment you have given them.  Create an environment where the employees feel safe having this type of open discussion without fear of criticism for doing so and you will improve the execution of assignments greatly.
