Setting Priorities in Assignment Management

Too many times project plans are developed and steps, resources, people and time lines established.  The manager or project team lay out the action steps for execution in logical order.  But somewhere along the way the project stalls or gets derailed and valuable time is lost. Often the problem will be lack of integration between actions steps.

Where the Project Plan has several sub-sets of related activities going on at the same time, and some of these steps may be depended on others, attention needs to be made to how these dependencies relate to one another.  When setting up the priorities it is very important to identify dependencies.  Look for which action steps are dependent on some other action step in the Plan in order to be completed.  then take these dependencies into account when establishing work priorities.  In this manner, you can make sure that an action step needed by other actions steps has the correct priority.  In this way your Plan is fully integrated and all things Link together in one beautifully coordinated Plan of Action.
