Way too often I have observed managers delegate and solicit little or no acknowledgement that the employee understands let alone accepts the assignment.  With little employee communication, important assignments can be botched.  Effective delegation is always a communication process. When delegating important assignments, a manager needs to take the 2-3 minutes it takes to; confirm understanding, answer clarifying questions and seek confirmation that the employee clearly takes ownership and accepts the assignment.
